Ex- Racing Greyhound | Before and After
When rescued, some Greyhounds are emaciated and in dreadful condition. It can seem a daunting task to take on such a wreck, because wreck is the word to describe these poor dogs. Our two were adopted in August 2007 and whilst both were thin and in a parlous state, Slinky was by far the worst. It seems he was with the travelling community in Ireland and had been used for coursing. We believe he was found wandering and possibly near death when he was found and brought into the rescue centre.
He was brought over to the UK and we took him after he'd been in a foster home for about ten days. The pictures below show him at that point, when he'd been fed properly for around three weeks and again two months later.
We were both extremely distressed when we brought Slinky home but must confess we get that warm fuzzy feeling now when we see what we, and a brave dog achieved.
Please never be put off rescuing a dog in poor condition, you'll be amazed at what tender loving care can produce.
